
Dr. Rémi Quirion is a Professor of Psychiatry at the Douglas Hospital of McGill University and is the Scientific Director of the Douglas Hospital Research Centre (DHRC).
Under his leadership, the DHRC has flourished into a premier Canadian research facility, internationally renowned for its work in the fields of neurosciences, mental health and addiction. In January 2001, he became the inaugural Scientific Director at the Institute of Neurosciences, Mental Health and Addiction of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
Dr. Quirion has published over 500 scientific papers pertaining to neuroscience and pharmacology and is also on the editorial board of over 15 international journals. During his tenure at the DHRC, he has trained over 70 students and fellows.
He has received international acclaim and numerous awards throughout his career, including the Prix Galien Canada for excellence and innovation in pharmaceutical research in Canada and the Heinz Lehmann Award from the Canadian College of Neuropsychopharmacology. He has been awarded the titles of Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and Knight of the Ordre national du Québec. He is also one of the most cited investigators in the fields of Neurosciences and Pharmacology by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) in the United States.
